Today, I want to talk about something we don’t discuss enough in our community. What actually happens when you stop chasing.
I know many of us have been told the twin flame bond is an unbreakable, ever-present connection that never fades. But what’s the real story when separation stretches from months into years? We just shared a story this morning about a 17-year separation.
Does that deep love remain, transform, or sometimes even disappear? Does it lead to union or is this when twin flames fail?
Today, I’m sharing stories from three brave souls in our community who’ve made the difficult choice to step back from actively pursuing their twin flame.
“I’m simply in stillness”

Tricky_Library6969 offers yet another perspective that beautifully captures the cyclical nature of this journey:
I feel it’s part of the journey. It is ours at least. I felt the shift within me and him almost as soon as it started happening. There has never been a time when I didn’t love him unconditionally and accept him along with his shadow and his light. I’m simply in stillness.
That phrase “simply in stillness” hits home for me. Sometimes the twin flame journey isn’t about dramatic chasing or running, but about finding peace within the connection, whatever form it takes.
I know this can feel strange or unlikely, especially to those in the earlier stages, where the journey can feel all-consuming. Your twin flame might be taking up most of your daily head space with thoughts of what they’re doing and what they’re thinking but being able to reach this stillness is exactly what it takes.
Accepting both the shadow and light in our twin (and ourselves) creates space for the relationship to be what it needs to be right now. Sometimes that’s active union, sometimes it’s separation, and sometimes it’s just stillness.
“A mix between pure hatred and indifference”
On the flip side, Master-Bandicoot-306 shares a raw truth that many of us feel but rarely admit:
A mix between pure hatred and indifference.
I always appreciate the stories with raw honesty about your feelings an emotions. Though if this is a little too short for you, you’ll find stories like this and this one a lot more detailed.
That place where the connection feels so painful that it flips into something that looks like hatred.
This is the shadow side of twin flame connections that Instagram quotes and YouTube gurus rarely talk about. The intensity can go both ways. Intense love can become intense negative emotions when the pain gets too much. If you’ve felt this, you’re not alone, and you’re not “doing it wrong.”
It’s a common experience, but the truth is your true twin flame can never really hate you.
“From the first conversation to my last breath”

Lady_Cath_Diafol’s experience resonates with so many of us who’ve felt that permanent heart connection:
I have never, for one day, stopped loving that man. From the first conversation to the night he initiated our first separation. From the last kiss to probably my last breath, I will love him.
But here’s where her story takes an interesting turn that many of us can learn from:
It’s just changed. Back then, I loved him because it meant we could be together. Now, with both of us happily settled with soul mates, it means loving him enough to let him be happy elsewhere, until divine timing pulls us back together.
I find this perspective so powerful. Many of us fear that letting go means love dies, but they show us it can actually evolve into something purer. Loving without needing anything in return. That’s true unconditional love, isn’t it? Loving someone enough to want their happiness, even if it doesn’t include you right now.
I always have mixed feelings when I read stories like this. The honest surrender is definitely a move in the right direction, but I hate to see twin flames go through extended periods apart.
What’s Your Truth?
If these stories show us one thing, it’s that there’s no “right” way to feel during twin flame separation. Your emotions might fluctuate between undying love, anger, indifference, acceptance, or a mix of all these. That’s perfectly normal.
Well, as normal as anything is for twin flames.
Our feelings about our twin flame often mirror where we are in our own healing journey. Sometimes letting go is exactly what we need to move forward. Whether that means moving forward together or apart for the moment.
Remember, whatever you’re feeling is valid. You’re not failing at your twin flame journey. You’re simply experiencing your unique version of it as we all are.
This post features insights from our community members. I’m deeply grateful for their honesty and courage in sharing such personal experiences.
