The twin flame journey can feel lonely and confusing. Sometimes, people around you can understand and support you (usually your more spiritually attuned friends), but it’s nice to talk to members of the collective who understand what you’re going through. It’s almost impossible to get exact numbers on how many twin flames are incarnated here on Earth, but we are in the position of speaking to lots of them. So we polled people to get some ideas on the number of twin flames out there that are going through the journey (and some interesting statistics about their path).
- 73% identified as female, 24% as male, 3% as non-binary/other.
- The average age of the first twin flame encounter was the mid-twenties.
- The average separation length was around two years.
- 82% first met their twin flame unexpectedly when not looking for a relationship.
- 68% experienced separation within the first year of first meeting.
- 91% reported experiencing significant spiritual awakening after meeting their twin.
- Only 8% reported being in full union (we’ll cover why that number is unusually low in a moment).
- 5% were uncertain about their current stage.
- 56% were in no-contact separation at the moment.
- 31% were in communication but working through challenges.
- Over 80% experienced some kind of telepathic communication or emotions between them and their twin.
- 67% made significant life changes after meeting.
You’ve probably heard the “144,000” number quoted from the Bible, but nothing in the Bible actually uses the term twin flame. So that’s really just a guess. It might be true (and you’ll sometimes hear people state it as fact), but we’re going to go with the numbers we can actually get.
Twin flame statistics run into three major problems.
The first problem is that the exact number is almost impossible to know. We connected a couple of twin flame communities to poll people (and we’ll include some statistics), but that still won’t cover everyone.
The earliest recorded use of ‘twin flame’ or ‘twin soul’ in writing dates back to the 1890s (at least as far as we can see), but the actual history goes back even further.
Most of the people who go through the journey are probably completely unaware of the term, the twin flame collective community or (sometimes) even the path they’re on.
So most twin flames struggling to understand what they’re going through will never have heard about our poll.
The second problem is that most twin flames in union don’t spend time in these communities. Some are off in what they probably think are fantastic relationships and maybe did all their work in past lives so they never had to go through the difficult separations that usually result in finding people going through the same thing.
Others reach union and just drift away. It no longer seems important.
The third problem is that most people who use the twin flame term are not one. It’s become an easy buzz word to use on social media and artists like Megan Fox to use. But when you see what a twin flame journey actually takes, those social media posts don’t match up.
Our Poll Results
So we can’t speak to everyone, and our poll results are going to be skewed toward people who are in separation (because that’s usually how they find the collective to begin with). But it at least gives us an idea of what people are dealing with at that stage.
If you ask 100 people, you’ll get 100 different ideas of what twin flames really are and why they’re here. Every path is unique so I wouldn’t use these stats to draw any rules or expectations on your own journey either.
- The majority of people misuse the term “soul mate” because Hollywood caught on to it, and we just use it as a synonym for ‘good relationship’ now.
- We’re starting to misuse the term “twin flame” more and more as a synonym for this exact same thing.
- Twin flames are incredibly rare. Even with the misuse of the term, most people have never heard of one. Most readers, friends, and families do not know what a twin flame is.
